After the idea of converting my parents' house into a small hotel, it quickly became clear - it has to be called:
" I da Mitt - In the Middle"
because it is "In the Middle"
the middle of Hallstatt
the middle of Austria
the middle of Europe
and who knows in which middle still!
The renovation of such an old house - and "In the Middle" from Hallstatt at that - harbors surprises and one or the other challenge.
No common truck, so no conventional technical aids, can be brought directly to the house on the narrow and low driveway.
So every move is more difficult so that's why ...
" from the Middle "
It was clear:
"In the Middle"
should maintain modern comfort but not lose the character of the house.
The decision was made quickly:
everything that can be reused should be reprocessed an processed in - house.
Doors, beds and other furniture were made from the same wood that was built into the house centuries before.
Old wooden deilings from 1751 were uncovered and restored, a coin "Ein Kreutzer" from 1762 was found in the masonry during demolition work.
After eight months of construction
the old house is now being handed over to its new purpose:
A small hotel with only 4 rooms, a cozy coffee-bar exactly....
"In the Middle"
